If you love nature, the cool crisp air of the mountains, and are a professional, polished, energetic and highly organized CAREER nanny, keep reading! Wonderful family with 2 kiddos, ages 7 and 9, are looking for a FT, live-in nanny! You will have a private bedroom and bathroom in the family’s beautiful 2-story, 4,000 sq ft condo, in the heart of Vail Village. You’ll be a 5 minute walk from the ski mountain, and a 5 minute drive to the kid’s school and grocery store. These dual-working parents are very hands on and handle breakfast and school drop off daily, so if you prefer a later start time, this could be a great fit for you. Must be confident/capable working solo (an extension of mom when she’s not present), but also great at tag-teaming and working collaboratively with parents. Duties will include after school pick up, managing the kids calendars, driving to their many after school activities, assisting with homework and school projects, planning fun activities and outings, traveling with the family (including packing/unpacking both kids), running errands, grocery shopping, cooking for the kids (focus on healthy eating – open to trying new recipes!), and simple meal prep (washing/chopping fruits/veggies, hard boiling eggs, etc.). They have a full-time housekeeper Mon-Fri, but you will be responsible for light housekeeping related to the kids/your activities, including loading/unloading dishwasher, wiping counters down, cleaning up after kids, keeping their rooms/play areas organized, as well as kid laundry + ironing kids items on weekends and when traveling (they won’t have housekeeper in Miami).
LOCATION: Vail, CO
SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week, including weekends. Typical schedule will include 10-12 hour days on both SAT/SUN, plus 3 weekdays afternoons (12:30pm-7:30pm), with occasional later evenings on those nights).
COMPENSATION: $72,800 + Free Housing + Annual Ski Pass
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MUST be willing to commit to an unscented lifestyle. Due to allergies, you cannot wear perfume, scented lotion, etc – if it says “perfume or fragrance” it’s a no go. Family will provide all (high end) personal care products.
- MUST be open to travel – family has a second home in Miami and they spend 6+ weeks there annually + overseas travel (ie 1 month in Europe during the summer, etc.)
- Must know how to swim
- You should be an Expert Traveler (and packer for children)
- Valid Passport
- Covid + Flu vaccines NOT required
- Pet Friendly; family does not currently have any pets, but may reconsider in the near future
- Attire: Must be willing to wear more professional clothing when on duty (no leggings or tight fitting clothing, one piece modest bathing suit vs. bikini, etc.) – think J. Crew Nanny.
The ideal candidate for this family is a true professional who envisions her career as a nanny for the foreseeable future, and has expereince working with school-age kids. Their last nanny was a Norland Nanny (from the UK), therefore they have high standards when it comes to professionalism and understanding of child development. Although they are looking for someone organized, detail-oriented and innately neat and tidy, you should also be easygoing, flexible, and go with the flow (not rigid). The perfect nanny for this busy family is playful, engaging, loves all things nature/outdoors, and is active and able to keep up with 2 active kids – think hiking, skiing, biking, etc! You should be really responsible, attentive, safety conscious, and big on hygiene (ie washing hands after school, playing outside, before eating…etc.), and great at following direction. These loving parents do not run a super disciplinary household, although they have boundaries and strive to have children who are kind and well mannered, they are looking for a nanny who will follow their more gentle approach of talking through things vs. time outs).
