Adoption and Surrogacy Support FAQs
Here are some of the questions we hear most from families navigating adoption and surrogacy:
How can Westside Nannies support our adoption or surrogacy journey?
We match families growing through adoption or surrogacy with experienced nannies and Newborn Care Specialists. Whether you need temporary support, around-the-clock newborn care, or a long-term caregiver to grow with your family, we'll help you find a caregiver who fits your family’s specific needs.
Do your caregivers have experience with adoption and surrogacy families?
Many of our candidates have worked with families who have adopted or welcomed children through surrogacy and understand the unique dynamics that can come with these transitions. All of our caregivers share a genuine passion for supporting families, especially during the most meaningful moments of their lives.
What type of care is available for families bringing home a baby through surrogacy?
We work with some of the best newborn caregivers in the industry and can find your family a match with whatever level of support works best for you, including around-the-clock care, overnight coverage, daytime support, or part-time support. If you're welcoming a newborn, a Newborn Care Specialist is often a great fit, giving you the support and confidence you need to fully soak up those early weeks. If you need more flexible or ongoing coverage, a nanny may be the right answer. Our placement counselors will help you figure out what makes the most sense.
What type of care is available for families welcoming an adopted child?
Every adoption is different, and we approach each placement with an emphasis on what that eah specific family needs. Whether you're welcoming a newborn, a toddler, or a school-aged child, we'll work with you to find a caregiver who is a genuine fit for your child's needs and your family's goals.
Can you support international families or intended parents who are unable to travel?
Yes. If you are an international intended parent who is unable to travel to Los Angeles, we have qualified and experienced Newborn Care Specialists and nannies who can be in place to care for your baby until you are able to be there. We understand the added complexity that comes with distance and do everything we can to make sure your baby is in the best possible hands.
Can our caregiver travel with us?
Absolutely. Whether travel is part of your surrogacy arrangement, your adoption process, or simply your family's lifestyle, many of our caregivers are open to travel and experienced in accompanying families away from home.
What qualifications do Westside Nannies caregivers have?
Every candidate goes through our rigorous 10-Point NannyScreen, and less than 4% of applicants make it through. We require thoroughly verified references and a genuine track record of exceptional care. For adoption and surrogacy placements specifically, we prioritize candidates who bring not just experience, but warmth, patience, and an understanding of what this kind of transition means for a family.
How long does the placement process take?
Most families are reviewing candidates within a week or two of submitting their family application. We encourage families to begin their search at least 6 weeks before their ideal start date, though we understand that adoption and surrogacy timelines don't always follow a predictable schedule. Reach out as early as you can, and we'll work with whatever timeline works best for you.
