A warm, active two-mom household in Harbor City is seeking an experienced, highly engaging full-time nanny to care for their two daughters, ages 8 and 9. Both girls are autistic and have ADHD, with different personalities, support needs, and sensory sensitivities. The family is looking for someone who is patient, personable, highly attuned, and genuinely enjoys building strong relationships with children. This is a very hands-on role requiring thoughtful 1:1 engagement, excellent supervision, and the ability to keep both girls engaged in developmentally appropriate ways. The family also has three dogs and a cat, so a pet-friendly candidate is important.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the girls with transitions, executive functioning, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social situations
- Prepare snacks and meals with attention to balanced nutrition and one child’s dietary needs
- School pick-up and transportation to activities using your personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Support homework, creative activities, playdates, and age-appropriate outings
- Help the girls navigate social interactions and misunderstandings in a patient, supportive way
- Encourage independence and a sense of agency while providing appropriate structure and guidance
- Prepare for and manage after-school routines
- Meal prep and grocery organization; groceries are typically delivered, with occasional Trader Joe’s runs
- Organize the kitchen, maintain household inventory, and assist with organizational projects
- Run occasional family errands
- Help keep the household running smoothly and proactively identify tasks that need to be handled
- Work collaboratively with the girls’ other care team and maintain open communication with the parents

- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities
- Proactive and able to take initiative without needing to be micromanaged
- Warm, personable, and relationship-oriented
- Able to approach children with respect, humor, and genuine curiosity rather than a clinical or overly authoritative style
The ideal candidate is someone who is patient, playful, emotionally attuned, and genuinely enjoys getting to know children for who they are. Both girls are very perceptive and respond best to caregivers who are warm, engaged, and accepting, so the family is looking for someone who can create a sense of safety and connection while still providing appropriate boundaries and structure. One daughter thrives when caregivers explain the logic behind expectations and give her a sense of agency, while the other benefits from significant patience, co-regulation, and help interpreting social situations and sensory experiences. A great sense of humor, flexibility, and the ability to shake things off are essential. The family is looking for someone who can confidently step in, see what needs to be done, and keep everyone moving through the day with a positive attitude. If you are an experienced nanny who loves building meaningful relationships with children and would thrive in a warm, collaborative household, we would love to hear from you – apply today!
