Busy Santa Monica family is seeking a patient, engaging, and dependable Part-Time Nanny/Family Assistant to primarily support their wonderful teenage son while helping keep their afternoons running smoothly. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with neurodiverse children and teens and is passionate about helping them build confidence, independence, and social connections. Their son has high-functioning autism and dyslexia. While he masks well socially, he benefits from someone who can provide guidance with social cues, encourage friendships, and accompany him to after-school activities and tutoring. The family also has an 11-year-old daughter who may occasionally need transportation to soccer or playdates.

DUTIES

  • School pick-up and transportation to tutoring, after-school activities, and appointments
  • Provide support and companionship for a neurodiverse teen
  • Encourage social interaction, independence, and confidence
  • Plan engaging activities and outings, especially for a teen who enjoys art
  • Occasional transportation for 11-year-old sister to soccer, playdates, or activities
  • Children’s laundry and organization
  • Meal preparation for the children
  • Grocery shopping and running errands
  • Light household tidying and family assistant duties
  • Help keep the household organized and running smoothly

LOCATION: Santa Monica, CA

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, approximately 2:00 PM-6:00 PM with flexiblity to stay later on occasion or possibly come in earlier

COMPENSATION $35-$40/hour DOE

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working with neurodiverse children or teens, particularly those with autism
  • ABA training or experience strongly preferred
  • Experience as a behavioral aide, personal care attendant, or educational aide is a plus
  • Warm, patient, and emotionally intelligent
  • Engaging, active, and creative
  • Someone who enjoys encouraging social development and building confidence
  • Reliable vehicle, clean driving record, and comfortable driving children
