Wonderful family in Topanga (5 minutes from Woodland Hills) is seeking an experienced, patient, and engaging Special Needs Nanny/Family Assistant to provide one-on-one support for their 16-year-old son with autism. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working with individuals with special needs and wants to become a trusted and consistent part of a family’s team! Their son is homeschooled and functions developmentally around a kindergarten/first-grade level. He is verbal and understands quite a bit, although his expressive language is limited. He thrives when he is busy, engaged, and following a consistent routine. The family would love someone who can learn his routines, provide consistency, and help encourage independence and life skills. He is a big water kid who loves swimming, being outdoors, going to the movies, grocery shopping, and getting out of the house! The ideal candidate will be active and enthusiastic about accompanying Mom and her son on outings while also developing a trusting relationship that allows Mom to comfortably leave him in the nanny’s care. This will allow Mom to spend one-on-one time with her other son and attend activities outside the home. This is very much a team-oriented role, working closely alongside Mom and pitching in wherever needed. When appropriate, the nanny will also assist with Family Assistant responsibilities to help keep the household and day-to-day needs organized. The family is very open to new ideas and would love someone who can bring experience, creativity, patience, and a positive approach to the role.
