A warm and loving family in Santa Monica is seeking a dependable, highly engaged part-time nanny to care for their two children, ages 5 and 2. The family has had a nanny for the past five years and is very sad to see her leave as she returns home to be with her family, so they are hoping to find someone who can become a similarly trusted and long-term member of their household. The position is approximately 25 hours per week, with weeks of full-time hours during school breaks and summer months. In this role you will be primarily respondible for their 2-year-old daughter who will be in preschool Mon-Thur until 1:30pm and Fri until 12pm; she takes an afternoon nap after lunch as well. She is happy, go with the flow, fully potty trained, and very adventurous! Their 5-year-old son will be in kindergarten Mon-Fri until 3pm, so you will really only have 2 hours with both kids most days. He is very social and loves playing outside, but he is also a deeply feeling kid, so they need someone who is patient, understanding and supportive as he navigates big feelings. Addiitonally, he exclusively wears dresses (loves Elsa!), likes jewelry and having his nails painted, so it is imperative that their nanny is fully accepting and supportive of the children’s individuality and self-expression. General responsibilities include school pickups, egaging in play, preparing the kids meals and snacks as needed, children’s laundry, taking out the trash, occasional vacuuming, and general tidying related to the children.

LOCATION: Santa Monica, CA

START DATE: End of September, Oct 5th at the latest

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 25 hours/week

• Generally 12:00pm–5:00pm. Please be flexible to adjust the hours as needed Mon-Thur as the family finds their rhythm with both kids in school. Start time is between 12pm-1pm, end time between 5pm-6pm (5-hour shifts).
• Fridays are fixed at 12:00pm-5:00pm as the youngest has early dismissal.
• Must be flexible for full days when the children are out of school, including holidays, breaks, scheduled days off (school calendar for the year available in advance to help with planning), and sick days. More full-time hours are available during the summer, especially in June and August. Occasional overnight availability is a plus.

COMPENSATION: $35/hour gross

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Professional childcare experience with toddlers and school-aged children
• Strong driving record (family can provide a Tesla for nanny’s use)
• Fully vaccinated & willing to get an annual flu shot
• Willing to assist with light household tasks related to the children
• Flexible, dependable, and comfortable with occasional schedule changes
• Dog friendly – they have a 75-lb goldendoodle! Please be open to occasionally walking him around the block before the kids gets home from school.
