A loving + active family in Santa Monica is excited to find an engaging afternoon nanny to become a valued part of their team! They are looking for someone who truly enjoys working with school-aged children and shines when it comes to creating a calm, structured, and supportive after-school routine. This is an ideal opportunity for a nanny who loves balancing fun with responsibility—especially someone who is confident helping with homework, encouraging independence, and keeping afternoons running smoothly.
The family has two wonderful children who attend the same school in Santa Monica. Their 5½-year-old son is heading into kindergarten and is a sweet, affectionate, and energetic little boy who loves riding his bike, baseball, soccer, swimming, and Tae Kwon Do. He also takes piano lessons at home and may add more school activities throughout the year. His almost 8-year-old sister is entering second grade and is creative, curious, and loves science projects, reading, crafts, gymnastics, and piano. Both children thrive with someone who can provide gentle guidance, keep them on task with homework, and make learning feel encouraging and enjoyable. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from approximately 2:00/2:30 PM until 6:00 PM, with one weekly date night extending until about 9:00 PM.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Dog Friendly- they plan to get a dog sometime in the near future
Responsibilities include school pick-up, driving the children to their activities around Santa Monica and swim lessons in Cheviot Hills (using the family’s vehicle), assisting with homework, supervising bath time, preparing and serving dinner for the children, and creating a relaxed, positive end to the day. Since Dad is a stay-at-home parent and is often home, they are looking for someone who naturally complements the household by taking the lead on the children’s afternoon routine while bringing a calm, organized presence.
For candidates interested in additional hours, the family is open to expanding the role into a Family Assistant position. Earlier hours could include grocery shopping, running light errands, preparing dinner, keeping the kitchen clean while cooking, and maintaining tidy shared living spaces. This is not a housekeeping role, but rather someone who enjoys helping a busy household stay organized and running efficiently.
The family values kindness, reliability, initiative, and a genuine love of children. They hope to find someone who is confident supporting elementary-aged academics, and can create a structured yet fun environment where the children feel encouraged and cared for. They also plan to welcome a dog into the family in the future, so applicants should be pet friendly.
This family deeply values their nanny and believes in creating a long-term, supportive working relationship. They travel frequently throughout the year—including holidays, summer, and spring break—and provide paid time off while they are away. In addition, they offer two weeks of paid vacation. On school holidays, Dad typically spends the morning with the children before the nanny takes over in the afternoon, allowing for consistency in the children’s routine.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a nurturing, organized, and engaging nanny who enjoys supporting children’s academic growth just as much as their adventures, and who is looking to become an important part of their lives! Apply today!
