A loving family in Huntington Beach is seeking a full-time nanny to help care for their sweet and active 2.5-year-old son. Diagnosed with autism at age 2, he is a happy, affectionate little boy who loves flowers, leaves, outdoor adventures, and spending time at the playground and beach. He is currently nonverbal but communicates in many meaningful ways (pointing, grabbing your hand, shaking head yes/no), follows directions well, and is making exciting progress through speech, physical, and ABA therapies. Mom has been his primary caregiver and will remain highly involved, and the family is looking for an extra set of hands to provide support, bring fresh energy, and become a collaborative part of their team. You will serve as her right hand so must be incredibly comfortable working as a team, as he is very attached to mom. Responsibilities will include engaging in play and developmental activities, assisting with outings and therapy appointments, preparing snacks and lunch, tidying child-related areas, kid laundry, organizing supplies and bags for the day, monitoring during naps, and helping with occasional household errands.
LOCATION: Huntington Beach, CA
START DATE: ASAP, though the family is willing to wait for the right fit.
SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday-Friday. The family can accommodate anywhere from 30-40 hours per week based on the nanny’s preference. Typical days begin around 7:30 AM, with flexibility for later starts on some days depending on therapy schedules and family needs.
COMPENSATION: $35-$45/hour gross, depending on experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with children with autism or other developmental differences is strongly preferred.
- Physically active and able to comfortably lift and keep up with a large, energetic toddler.
- Comfortable working alongside an involved parent and taking direction in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Observant and attentive to nonverbal cues and transitions.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly dependable.
- Respectful of family boundaries and professional in demeanor.
- Comfortable sharing location with parents while transporting or caring for the child independently.
- Cat-friendly.
